NEW YORK THEATRE BARN (2021)
TAR BEACH

Filmed by Full Out Creative “up on the roof” in Little Italy, Manhattan.
Incubated in the Choreography Lab for NEW YORK THEATRE BARN.
Based on the stories of “Tar Beach” curated by Susan Meiselas with forward by Martin Scorsese.
TAR BEACH honors the stories of love & family that were shared on the rooftops of Little Italy. While some of the neighborhood’s landscape has since changed, one can still find a place of sanctuary “up on the roof.”
“The focus of the Open Lab is about facilitating relationships, giving choreographers the freedom to work on a project of their choice with a mentor who will help elevate their work and career.
Mentors Rachel Leigh Dolan (two-time Helen Hayes Award-winning choreographer), Shiloh Goodin (PARADISE SQUARE), and James Harkness (AIN'T TOO PROUD) will meet with the three choreographers to discuss an initial approach into the work, and will provide feedback during their rehearsal process.”
