MY WHY

From/based in New York City, Ariana grew up surrounded by movement and was lucky to dance in spaces that fostered community. The historic St. George Theatre was an active part of her formative years and gave her an appreciation for a theatrical space early on. It quickly became dear to her heart as well as the first stage that she entered as an artist. In each creative opportunity, Ariana’s intention is to celebrate storytelling and form generous, equitable spaces.

MULTI-HYPHENATE ARTIST: PERFORMER. CHOREOGRAPHER. EDUCATOR. THEATRICAL HUMAN.

Most recently, Ariana was selected as the SDCF Choreography Shadow for MOULIN ROUGE! Broadway. She had the privilege to observe Associate Choreographer Camden Gonzales during the touring company’s rehearsals in NYC. Other favorite theatre credits include THE WIZARD OF OZ (Capital Repertory Theatre) and MARY POPPINS (Potsdam Music Theatre). Ariana has also collaborated with creatives like Al Blackstone, Billy Griffin, Jena VanElslander, & Yancy Greene for NYC-based projects.

While in NYC, Ariana can be found on faculty at Mark Morris Dance Center and East Side Dance Co. She is a guest teaching artist for Broadway Dance Center Children & Teens and holds additional experience as a dance adjudicator on the competition circuit. Ariana earned her B.A. in Theatre Arts (summa cum laude) from SUNY New Paltz, where a dear mentor, Joe Langworth, supported her journey of choreographing her own work. She is a dance maker who believes storytelling should be at the forefront while sparking communication through movement.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN WORKING TOGETHER: lots of energy & laughs; many cups of coffee in her sustainable Yeti mug; and a human being who wants to make the world better through the arts.
